Doing all things DANCE

Matt Bishop is a multidisciplinary dancer, choreographer, and creative whose journey reflects versatility and innovation. From competition dancer, to studying dance in college, to getting involved in the culture of hip-hop and street dance as an all-styles dancer, he has developed a wide-ranging movement vocabulary and a strong sense of artistry.

While earning his Bachelor of Arts in Dance, Matt studied ballet, contemporary, and techniques of modern dance. He also explored methodical approaches to improvisation, choreography, teaching, and community engagement. Beyond the dance floor, he was exposed to technical elements of dance such as lighting design and stage management. His time at Colorado State University has left him with a holistic and well-rounded understanding of the many facets of dance, equipping him to collaborate seamlessly with performers, choreographers, and production teams alike.

Outside academics, Matt helped lead CSU’s Hip-Hop Dance Club—serving as Vice President and later President—while simultaneously connecting with Fort Collins’ local Hip-Hop crew, Foco Flava. Through these roles, he embodied Hip-Hop’s guiding values of Peace, Love, Unity, and Having Fun, values that continue to shape his work both on and off the dance floor.

Today, Matt’s work spans performance, choreography, education, and technical roles behind the scenes. Leading with innovation, versatility, and a joyful spirit, Matt continues to do all things DANCE…

Artist Statement

“I see dance as a living conversation between body, music, and spirit. Through freestyle, musicality, physicality, and a diverse range of styles, I explore movement as story, expression, and connection—sometimes narrative, sometimes abstract, but always alive.”
